Phil Mickelson makes donation to Liberty Science Center

Golfer PHIL MICKELSON recently announced a $50,000 donation to the Liberty Science Center in New Jersey, which hosts a Mickelson ExxonMobil Teachers Academy.

“In the four years since Phil Mickelson and his wife, Amy, launched the Mickelson ExxonMobil Teachers Academy, a program encouraging new ways of teaching math and science, the pair has appeared at the events together. This year, though, with Amy undergoing treatments for breast cancer, Mickelson made the flight from San Diego Thursday himself.

“Unfortunately, she couldn’t be here with me,” the professional golfer told the 200 elementary-school teachers from across the country who were selected for the program. “But she’s doing great; she’s doing much better.”

The Academy has three sites: Texas, Louisiana and Jersey City, where Mickelson spoke Thursday night and announced a $50,000 donation to Liberty Science Center, which hosts the program.”   (The full article can be seen at http://www.nj.com/golf/index.ssf/2009/07/phil_mickelson_makes_donation.html)
