YouTube channel for UN Sports and Development

There will be no Paris or Kim, Jon or Kate, or anything you would see on Entertainment Tonight or Access Hollywood (thank god). Rather, there will be videos highlighting the work of the UN Office on Sport, including ongoing projects and interviews with leaders in the field. Great stuff.

Thanks to SportandDev.org for covering this launch. SportandDev is a terrific resource and we strongly recommend visiting their site and signing up for their newsletter.

UN Office on Sport Launches Youtube Channel

08 September 2009, Antoine Tardy

The UNOSDP launches a dedicated channel on YouTube: visit http://www.youtube.com/UNOSDP for a first-hand look at the channel and post your comments!

The channel will primarily host videos of the missions of the Special Adviser to the United Nations Secretary-General on Sport for Development and Peace, Mr. Wilfried Lemke, as well as of various projects using the power of sport as a medium for development and peacebuilding.

The channel will also play host to some of the most inspirational speeches made by dignitaries on how sport can be used for social purposes. Keeping in mind the importance of effective communication, the United Nations Office on Sport for Development and Peace (UNOSDP) has come up with an innovative and appealing medium to fulfil his role as a global advocate for the promotion of sport as a vehicle for positive social change.

The United Nations Office on Sport for Development and Peace (UNOSDP), based in Geneva and supported by a New York liaison office, assists the Special Adviser in his diverse activities as an advocate, facilitator and representative of sports social purposes.

We look forward to welcoming you at http://www.youtube.com/unosdp!
