ESPN's 30 for 30

I think this is ESPN’s payback to society for airing Around the Horn on a daily basis and for still giving Dick Vitale a job.

This is a great idea and kudos goes to Bill Simmons and the folks at ESPN for dedicating the resources to bring stories to its vast audience. Not every story is uplifting per se, nor should they be. These are stories being told by acclaimed directors and producers who give us a different look at major sports-related stories from the past 30 years. I watched the first one, Kings Ransom, about the trade of Wayne Gretzky from the Edmonton Oilers to the LA Kings and loved hearing from the main players involved in the deal.

We will give a heads up before each new episode. The next one is Oct. 13. You can see more about the series at ESPN’s site, http://30for30.espn.com/.

We include the trailer for the program here.
