Still Need to Be Aware

On this last day of October, we wanted to include an inspiring video that captures some of the history of the relationship between New Balance, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, and the millions of individuals touched directly and indirectly by breast cancer.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and of course, as we move into November, the awareness and actions to combat this terrible disease will continue. Special days, weeks or months dedicated to causes are great as such collective, concentrated efforts can provide rallying points for those who work and support these causes throughout the year. They can attract media attention, fundraising efforts, and grassroots recruitment as people begin to associate that time of year with the cause.

But a special time dedicated to a cause should not be equated with the only time there are efforts to combat the issue at hand. The personal and societal issues that we are dealing with have been long in development. Combating them will take an even stronger commitment to the long term.
