Football/Soccer for hope…and fun

FIFA’s partnership with streetfootballworld – Football for Hope – is a great example of a major sports property and non-profit coming together to leverage their respective strengths to drive discussion and action of a “movement” and specific initiatives that support that movement.

Many of the organizations we have covered so far at Sports Doing Good have used football/soccer to deliver their message(s). The simplicity of the sport – all we need is a ball – and its global appeal allow anyone anywhere to initially identify with the people leading the programs. This is key in earning the trust and support of the target group and other stakeholders.

During the next 6 or so months leading up to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, it is certain an even brighter light will be shone on many of these efforts. You will be able to read about many of those efforts right here at Sports Doing Good.
