Introduction
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend and I wish you an equally wonderful holiday season in December.

This week I am fortunate to have the chance to partake in something that combines two of my favorite things – sports (especially soccer/football) and documentaries. Many of you may already know of Kicking & Screening, a one-of-a-kind effort to highlight the beauty of movie making with the beautiful game. I was fortunate to meet the founders as they were launching this effort almost 13 years ago. Here is a short description of Kicking & Screening:

The 2022 edition of KSSFF New York will be our 13th festival in the Big Apple. The festival was founded in 2009, and other than a pandemic-related cancelation in 2020, has consistently taken place in New York City. K+S has also organized festivals in London, Liverpool, Amsterdam, Rio de Janeiro, and Abu Dhabi, among other cities.

Kicking & Screening is a wonderful example of sports doing good. Getting together with old friends, making new friends, seeing incredible soccer-related stories presented in short and longer-form films, it is all good. Congratulations to founders Rachel Markus and Greg Lalas and their supporters over the years for keeping this going. If you are in the New York area, I hope you can make it this week (Nov. 30, Dec. 1, Dec. 2).

Finally, in a recent email, Kicking & Screening shared maybe the greatest skit in comedy history, definitely when it comes to soccer and philosophy. Get ready to be entertained and mentally stimulated.

Our Website

More About Us
Our goal is to have Sports Doing Good be a portal housing original content and excerpts from and links to the increasing number of articles, websites, video, and other media that showcase the good in sports and society. We aim to celebrate those concepts, activities, events, and individuals by highlighting them for a wider audience. Much of the news today, whether sports- related or not, is incredibly negative and increasingly polarizing, biased, and quite annoying. We are trying to refocus some of the discussion on the good, with a focus on sports.

Our mission is to have Sport Doing Good be a consistent, and significant, contributor to the areas of sports, social responsibility, and development. We look forward to partnering with other stakeholders in producing content, in creating and/or sponsoring athletic and service events, knowledge sharing, and conferences/seminars, and even having a commercial arm that could be the source of innovative social businesses.

We invite you to send in news, press releases, and guest pieces for possible publication, and email us with suggestions about the content and format of the newsletter and Sports Doing Good website.
