Kicking and Screening – love the name

C’mon, that is a great name for a soccer-related film festival. Well, there is one taking place from Oct. 15 – 18 in Washington, DC. As stated at its website, “The mission of Kicking & Screening is to bring together soccer fans and cinephiles to celebrate the beauty and passion of soccer as captured and expressed on film.”

You can learn more about the festival at http://www.kickingandscreening.com/index.html.

While that is enough motivation for me to go, the festival also has a social impact component. A portion of the proceeds from every K&S festival is donated to local, socially conscious organizations using soccer to promote positive change in the world. For the DC event, the organizations receiving funding include America Scores, United for DC, love.futbol, and Grassroot Soccer.

Good luck to the event organizers. I am sure it will be a great time. I am looking forward to the NYC 2010 event.

To get your juices flowing, here is collection of scenes from one of the movies being shown, Victory. Stallone was magnificent in it.  🙂
