‘Building a better community through sport’ – the Mabvuku/Tafara, Zimbabwe Sports Festival

Congratulations to Casper Madani!

This past weekend, at the Mabvuku/Tarfara (a dense suburban community outside the Zimbabwean capital of Harare) sports festival, she was honored “for making a breakthrough in the history of sport in Mabvuku by bringing women to the gym and introducing them to weightlifting” says Alfred Marange, one of the festivals organizers.

The event was for young athletes in U-14 and U-16 groups competing in eight different disciplines: soccer, netball, volleyball, cricket, road running, tennis, rugby and basketball during this one-day event. There was also demonstrations in karate and weightlifting.

The theme for the event was “building a better Community through Sports.”

Marange congratulated Madani for her work inspiring young girls to take up sport, and credits the young athletes for “doing wonders.”
