Fun and Philanthropy in NYC

Our friends at the United Way’s Young Leaders Council are having a special event Saturday night December 12 in New York City, honoring Beverly Bond, a premier DJ, activist and philanthropist. You can learn more about the event at http://www.unitedwaynyc.org/redcarpet_09/

As many of us know, the United Way has often collaborated with the NFL to advance initiatives for at-risk youth in the areas of education and fitness around the U.S.   The United Way’s fundraising programs and its community outreach events are well-respected in the worlds of sports and social responsibility and serve as models for other programs and partnerships.

Examples of such United Way/NFL initiatives in New York include the Grid Iron Gala,   http://www.unitedwaynyc.org/gridirongala/, a major charity event that raises significant dollar a year for at-risk youth in NYC; as well as the Hometown Huddle, http://www.unitedwaynyc.org/?id=32&pg=huddle09, a day of community outreach and service.

So we applaud the efforts of another United Way leadership network, the Young Leaders Council, and wish them all the best on the 12th.
