Introduction
In the first 295 or so weeks of doing the newsletter, we never had occasion to question our approach to highlighting good news, i.e. publishing a newsletter. In the past 12 weeks, I have been approached twice, by the same law firm actually, with claims of copyright infringement against me. Just to be clear, I have published the newsletter for free, with the main purpose of generating more attention for the subject of each article and the writer/photographer connected to said article. Unfortunately, two times this has attracted unwanted attention and has resulted in a financial loss.

I will be speaking with an intellectual property attorney as soon as I can but in the interest of being overly cautious, I am sending a modified version of the latest newsletter. Over the next couple of weeks I will try to figure out with the attorney a way to do the newsletter that allows me to follow through on its mission but does not (allegedly) infringe on anyone’s intellectual property. In the meantime, if there is any other content that is of issue, I ask that I be given a chance to fix the situation before a financial demand is made.

Thank you for your understanding.

This week, week we are grateful to be able to feature: a timely sponsorship by LUNA Bar bringing level the roster bonuses for the U.S. men’s and women’s national soccer teams; the strong position on increasing female participation in coaching taken by legendary Notre Dame women’s basketball coach Muffet McGraw; the emergence of Chattanooga FC on the world soccer scene; another head coach, Bruce Arians of the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers making it clear that when it comes to hiring good coaches, capability is what is most important and not gender or race (or anything else for that matter); amazing rescues done by members of the PBR (Professional Bull Riders); a record-breaking tribute by NBA star Russell Westbrook for slain rapper and friend, Nipsey Hussle; the whirlwind that has been the first few months as University of Miami head football coach Manny Diaz; UFC Commentator John Gooden and his walk for mental health awareness; the wonderful youth sports and development program, Legends for Kids; and Air Force Academy football star and graduate Jalen Robinette and his goal to play in the NFL.

Finally, if you think others would like to receive the newsletter, please feel free to forward it on or have them contact us directly at sab@sportsdoinggood.com. (If you do not want to receive the newsletter anymore you can use the Unsubscribe button at the end of the email)

More About Us
Our goal is to have Sports Doing Good be a portal housing original content and excerpts from and links to the increasing number of articles, websites, video, and other media that showcase the good in sports and society. We aim to celebrate those concepts, activities, events, and individuals by highlighting them for a wider audience. Much of the news today, whether sports- related or not, is incredibly negative and increasingly polarizing, biased, and quite annoying. We are trying to refocus some of the discussion on the good, with a focus on sports.

Our mission is to have Sport Doing Good be a consistent, and significant, contributor to the areas of sports, social responsibility and development. We look forward to partnering with other stakeholders in producing content, in creating and/or sponsoring athletic and service events, knowledge sharing, and conferences/seminars, and even having a commercial arm that could be the source of innovative social businesses.

We invite you to send in news, press releases, and guest pieces for possible publication, and email us with suggestions about the content and format of the newsletter and Sports Doing Good website.
